The theme of this year’s celebration is “At Sea for All”, a reminder to the world of how and why seafarers are indispensable to everyone and not just for the shipping industry or for their own career purposes. The International Maritime Organization is getting ready to celebrate its sixth annual international Day of the Seafarer on June 25th.
To help celebrate, the IMO is asking everyone to help spread the message on social media by using Thunderclap, a super-easy-to-use crowdspeaking app that will help amplify the message to the world. You can check out their IMO’s Thunderclap page HERE or sign up in the box below.
You can also take this quiz to test your seafaring knowledge. Or just write whatever you want on social media using #AtSeaForAll.
“This year, on June 25th, the Day of the Seafarer, we are once again asking people everywhere to show their appreciation for the seafarers that quietly, mostly unnoticed, keep the wheels of the world in motion,” said IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim.
Each, June 25th is celebrated globally as the Day of the Seafarer, an official United Nations observance day. This year, once again, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is asking people everywhere to show their appreciation, through social media, for seafarers and their contribution to international trade and the world economy.
